Brilliance of the Seas makes inaugural call, over 19,000 cruise passengers to visit next week


BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 8TH 2012 (CUOPM) Tourism stakeholders welcomed the first visit of Brilliance of the Seas on Tuesday as the 2012/2013 Cruise Ship Season continues.

Two ships visit on Friday and eight others are scheduled for next week.


On Tuesday 6th the 2,500-passenger Brilliance of the Seas arrived here from New Jersey in the United States with 2,053 passengers and a crew of 872 before departing for nearby St. Maarten.


Most of the passengers came ashore and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide tours via the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis with stops at Caribelle Batik, Romney Manor, the Wingfield Rain Forest, Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, Mount Liamuiga and  Black Rocks.


Some headed for the Zipline Tour at Old Road, sea and sun bathing on the beaches at Frigate Bay and the Southeast Peninsula, snorkeling, sailing, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling and shopping while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.


On Friday 9th November, the 3,473-passenger Carnival Victory and the 2,435-passenger Vision of the Seas will dock at Port Zante.


Next week, Port Zante hosts over 19,000 cruise ship visitors with the arrival of the 400-passenger Silver Whisper and the 3,840-passenger Explorer of the Seas dock on Sunday 11th; the 2,450-passenger Celebrity Summit on Monday 12th; the 3,100-passenger Emerald Princess on Tuesday 13th; the 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse on Wednesday 14th; the 2,435-pasenger Vision of the Seas on Thursday the 15th; and the 3,473-passenger Carnival Victory and the 624-passenger Amada on Friday the 15th November.
