BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 23RD 2012 (CUOPM) – The St. Kitts Tourism Authority is reporting an 11 percent increase in passenger arrivals from North America to the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.

The 10.7 percent increase is for the period January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011.

“Until the commencement of the Air Canada non-stop service from Toronto on Dec. 23, 2011, Canadian traffic flowed over US gateways; thus it is a North American count and not a US count,” said the Authority.

It noted in an update there has been across the board growth from all markets, with exceptional strength demonstrated in the Miami, Florida and the Charlotte, North Carolina gateways and an uptick in arrivals from the upper mid-west due to new feeder market access resulting from the Delta/Northwest merger.

American Airlines operates daily service into Bradshaw Airport from Miami International. American Airlines operates a twice-weekly (Sunday and Wednesday) service from JFK International in New York.

Delta operates a weekly service (Saturday) from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International and US Airways a weekly service from Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturdays.

British Airways operates scheduled service on Tuesday and Saturday from Gatwick-London and Air Canada from Toronto on Fridays.
