With the opening of the SKABA Junior league less than a month away and the official opening in 2 months many teams have begun preparations for the 2012 season.  Powerhouses such as Ghetto Roots, Hitters and defending champions Ghaut Bucs have all began various preparational  activities including team practices, try-outs, warm-up games and tournaments etc. 

One of the most anticipated re-entry’s into the SKABA league is the Legends Basketball Team. The Legends Basketball team was last featured in the SKABA league back in the early to mid 90’s and featured former SKABA players like Lawyer Emile Ferdinand, Lloyd Lazaar and others. Try-outs for the 2012 version of the legends basketball team began on Monday at the fabled Dorset Park and saw many retired and semi-retired SKABA and national team players including Kelvin “Tazzy” Elliot, Anthony “Lynx” James, Rupert “Put” Browne, Spencer Sutton, Livingstone “Dunta” France and others . The return of the Legends team was initiated by SKABA Great Trevor “Marty” Huggins who played in last years Premier Division finals with his team the RAMS Hitters along with Minister of Sports and former multi-time Leeward Islands Basketball Tournament MVP Glen “Ghost” Phillip.

A number of new teams are expected to register for the new season in addition to the return of a number of teams that have been dormant or absent from the league for a number of years. Molyneux, Newton Ground and Strivers are expected to make there return to the league this season. There may also be a 3rd Nevis Team that is considering entry into this years season.

The SKABA Junior League is scheduled for February 25th and the National League is tentatively set at March 25th .
