Educator
proposes mandatory “re-orientation camp” to curb juvenile crime
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 5TH 2008 (CUOPM) – Prominent educator, Mr.
Washington Archibald Friday proposed tough legislation to make it mandatory for
persons leaving school at 16 years to continue their education by attending a
“re-orientation camp.”
Government
receives report on crime, will invite all
stakeholders and political parties to discuss a National Plan

ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 2ND 2008 (CUOPM) – The
Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has received a comprehensive report on crime
from a top United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) official.
Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas
during his weekly - “Ask the Prime Minister” radio programme on ZIZ Radio and
Sugar City Rock on Tuesday said the report, is a comprehensive study of the root
causes of the problem of crime, especially gang violence among young people.

EC$140,000 spent on assisting families affected by Hurricane Omar
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 27TH 2008 (CUOPM) –
Government has been assisting families in the Half Way Tree, Old Road and
Verchilds communities, who were affected by last month’s passage of Hurricane
Omar, which also destroyed or severely damaged homes. |
